Just in from Shark Attack Media!
For Immediate Release:
FICTION PLANE set to share the stage with Bruce Springsteen, Joss Stone, The Killers, Chickenfoot and more this summer!
Fiction Plane may be called ‘the band that never sleeps’. When not writing, in the studio, or doing session work individually, the band can always be found out on the road, performing at amazing massive concert events and intimate clubs alike. Fiction Plane is nothing if not committed to making sure their music is heard.
This summer is no different. Already on the books are dates with such renowned and diverse acts as The Killers, Bruce Springsteen, Chickenfoot, Tesla, Jeff Beck, The New York Dolls, Beth Hart, and Morcheeba!
Fiction Plane has just announced two more special performances to add into the mix.
On July 10, they will be performing an intimate acoustic headline performance at The Klimt Bar in La Baule, France. And on July 13, Fiction Plane is scheduled to perform at Neumünster Abbey in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, in direct support of bluesy songbird Joss Stone.
Says Pete Wilhoit (who was recently voted one of the top ‘Up-And-Coming Drummers’ in the 2009 Modern Drummer Magazine Reader’s Poll) of Fiction Plane’s summer activities, “The band is gearing up for all the upcoming summer fun! We enjoy the festival season, and this one is going to quite special. We are looking forward to sharing the stage with some amazing artists such as The Killers, guitar legend Jeff Beck, Joss Stone, and of course Bruce Springsteen. We know that The Boss is a big fan of FP, so we are fully expecting him to be front row getting his groove-rock on!”
Having recently recorded and mixed their forthcoming third full-length album with legendary producer Paul Corkett (The Cure, Nick Cave, Björk, Tori Amos), Fiction Plane is ready to go out and give their fans a chance to hear some of the new material before it hits the stores. The currently untitled album is slated for a September / October release. Fiction Plane is also booking tour dates that will take them through the fall.

Fiction Plane drummer Pete Wilhoit voted into Modern Drummer 2009 Readers Poll!!

Just received this from Shark Attack Media:
For Immediate Release:
Fiction Plane drummer Pete Wilhoit voted into Modern Drummer 2009 Readers Poll winners list!
You heard correctly! Thanks in no small part to the devotion of Fiction Plane’s fan base, drummer Pete Wilhoit has been nominated the #3 Best Up and Coming Drummer, which is featured in the July 2009 issue of Modern Drummer Magazine (on stands now). Although the first and second spots are held by Flynnville Station’s Tommy Bales and Chris Cornell’s drummer Jason Sutter, Wilhoit charted ahead of literally thousands of drummers across the country, who were in contention for this list.
Pete enthusiastically admits, "It's a real honor to have been voted onto Modern Drummer's 2009 Reader's Poll. It's a privilege to be mentioned alongside so many amazing drummers.”
In addition to being listed in the poll, images of Wilhoit in action are prominently displayed throughout the magazine, in the respective Tama and Sabian equipment full-page advertisements. He continues, “I got a special kick out of being pictured in the Tama ad alongside my longtime teacher and hero Kenny Aronoff. I think he's graced the pages of every Modern Drummer issue I've ever read, so it's nice to be recognized with such a legend! I received a congratulatory phone call from my other longtime teacher and hero Shawn Pelton. I could almost see the grin through the phone as he utter the phrase, ‘I'm so f***ing proud, dig it,’ like a proud dad.”
As mentioned in the opening statement, without the resilience and hardcore voting by Fiction Plane’s fans, this honor would have been incredibly difficult to achieve. And Pete would like to make a special acknowledgement of that fact, “A super special ‘THANK YOU’ to all the Fiction Plane fans that voted for me. I certainly couldn't have done it without you!"
