FICTION PLANE Mixing New Album This Week!

Fresh news from the Fiction Plane camp!!!

The band is currently logging time at RAK Recording Studios in London mixing its yet-untitled third full length release, once again under the capable supervision of producer Paul Corkett. Says drummer Pete Wilhoit on working with Corkett: “It's been amazing working with Paul again. He's the perfect combination of old school and new school. He knows his s*** and loves to explore sonically. He's so dedicated to the project, and always finding new ways to improve the music. No one works harder! He won't stop until its right and he goes on virtually no sleep and very little food. It's been a joy working with him again."

The band has recorded 14 songs for contention for the album, which Wilhoit says, “has real depth to it; a lot of layers. We've hit some new soundscapes for this trio - it's really exciting to hear."

Vocalist/bassist Joe Sumner offers his unique spin on how the album is shaping up: “We've carried Stonehenge-sized chunks of brightly colored magic soap back and forth across the Atlantic using only spindly twiggy rafts built out of old guitars. The ocean dehydration sent us all a little bit loopy and when we got to the studio, we forgot to scrape all the creativity off the soap and it left the tape sopping wet with the stuff. You know when soap looks and smells good enough to eat? That's what this record sounds like. Just don't eat it. It's made of plastic.”

The album is tentatively slated for a September/October release and Fiction Plane is looking to tour through the fall.

In related news, a new festival date has emerged for the band. On August 22, Fiction Plane will be performing at the Maré de Agosto Festival on Santa Maria Island in Azures, Portugal. More information about the festival can be found at www.maredeagosto.com.

FICTION PLANE Manager offers news of new album

The Dutch website LiveXS recently spoke with FICTION PLANE manager Daniel Regan about his excitement for the new FP album, as well as giving a little bump for the upcoming Bospop Festival.

Here is the link for the story.

The translated text (courtesy of Babelfish) reads as follows:

The British band Fiction Plane is now working hard to tweak the new album. "On July 12 the trio the band will definitely play some new songs at the 2009 Bospop in Weert," says a very enthusiastic manager Daniel Regan.

This autumn the third studio album will be released, and the band is currently working hard on the songs, which include working titles like Telephone Unknown, Humanoid, Zero, Denied, Contagious and others. The Dutch manager Daniel Regan spent a day in the studio last with Fiction Plane and told LiveXS that he could already tell that "the new CD is much more varied than Left Side. There are 5 or 6 potential singles on it".

Last year the trio had a mega-hit with Two Sisters (from the second album Left Side Of The Brain) and gave Joe, Seton and Pete a global tour in support of The Police, giving them an opportunity to play for more than a million people worldwide.
