On the premiere episode of the VH1 original series FREE RADIO’s second season, entitled “Lance’s Posse”, a very familiar image has been spotted. During several scenes in the ‘backroom’ area of the radio station, a promotional poster for LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN is clearly visible. Cruise on over to the Fiction Plane Info Center Forum to see the screen shots!
Some great exposure for the guys, and we hope it gets people curious enough to check ‘em out. On top of that, the show is pretty funny.
The episode originally aired on April 2 and is currently in rotation until the next episode airs. It is airing pretty frequently, so you have a chance to check it out now. Following that, it will be viewable from VH1.com.
Fiction Plane’s PARADISO Live Album Now Available on iTunes!
Previously Unavailable Music Also Available for Download
Fiction Plane fans rejoice! The band’s recent live album PARADISO, which had previously only been available in Europe, is now accessible via iTunes!
That’s correct; you can download the audio content to Fiction Plane’s most exciting live performance, regardless of territory. Simply click on this link, and you can have access to the full 14-song set!
The tracklisting for PARADISO includes:
1) Death Machine 2) Presuppose 3) Running the Country 4) It's a Lie 5) Left Side of the Brain 6) Put on Your Shoes 7) Sadr City Blues 8) Drink 9) Anyone 10) Cut the Brake 11) Hate 12) Cross the Line 13) Cigarette 14) Two Sisters
Recorded on December 7, 2008 at the band’s sold-out performance in Amsterdam at the renowned Paradiso, the threesome of Joe Sumner, Seton Daunt, and Pete Wilhoit were captured in top form. Known for their highly animated and energetic live performances, PARADISO is the purest representation of Fiction Plane outside of an actual live show. As Sumner attests, “I’ve never liked live albums that were faked,” says Sumner. “When we play live, it is not a recital of our live recordings. We do everything we can to put on the best show for the crowd every night.”
A video clip for “It’s A Lie” from PARADISO is viewable below.
In related news, on April 7, two additional Fiction Plane rarities will become available for download. Amazon.com and iTunes will be releasing the full 13-minute version of “Put On Your Shoes” (which was previously only available as a Japanese bonus track on 2007’s LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN album), and a brand new acoustic version of the fan-favorite song, “Anyone”.
Already available on iTunes outside of America, this new, enchanting rendition of “Anyone” was recorded in Bloomington, IN (the hometown of Fiction Plane drummer Pete Wilhoit) just prior to the band’s final US headline performance of 2008 at The Bluebird. Recorded with two guitars, drums, and an antique organ, the band created a very minimalistic but heavily emotional version of the song. Fiction Plane recorded “Anyone” with producer/engineer Dave Weber (who had worked with Wilhoit on releases prior to joining Fiction Plane) and mixer Ash Howes (Kylie Minogue, James Morrison, Eurythmics).
Photos from the recording sessions are available at guitarist Seton Daunt’s official website.
Fiction Plane is currently in the studio recording its brand new full-length album for release later this year. Upcoming tour dates include:
